Bedford Big Band Board of Directors
Jeff Sawyer, of Windham, is the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for Associated
Grocers of New England in Pembroke,
NH. Mr. Sawyer has enjoyed playing the trumpet
for over 35 years in a variety of styles including Pop, Rock, Disco and
Jazz! Before joining the BBB
he played with a Seattle
Washington based big band
called the Tempos. He attended the University of Maine’s
Popular Music Program and the Berkley College of Music.
Nicole White, Secretary - from
Merrimack, Ms. White is a Clinical Nurse for the New England Heart
Institute. She performs professionally as a singer at weddings and other
events. She has sung leading roles in community theater music
productions.
Jen
Whitlock,
Treasurer – of Manchester, is a Treasury Accountant with River Stone
Resources. Ms. Whitlock graduated with a
degree in Business Management from Keene State College. When she is not subbing with the BBB on trumpet, Ms. Whitlock plays in the Merrimack
Community Concert Band and the Harvard Summer Pops Band.
Susan
Ryan,
President- from Merrimack, Ms Ryan is Vice President of Business QA at Fidelity in Merrimack. Her vast experience in providing guidance
and leadership to boards of directors of non-profit and for-profit
organizations makes her well qualified for her position as President of the
Bedford Big Band. Ms. Ryan has sung professionally and performed
extensively with community theater groups.
Art Smith,
of Nashua, (not pictured) is
now a retired Senior Program Control Administrator from BAE Systems in Hudson,
NH and has a degree in Business Management from Daniel Webster College. Mr. Smith played baritone sax at Chelmsford
High School and as a Music Ed. major at Lowell State (now U-MASS at
Lowell). For the next 20+ years, he played the tenor sax
professionally with the Chelmsford MA based group The Innovations. He
returned to the baritone sax when he joined the 39th Army Band NHARNG and
played with them for 14 years before retiring from the NH Army National Guard (with
20 years of total service).
